Here are a few measures which we feel could strengthen the national security system : Citizens

This is yet another category that provides some truly logical and practical solutions to a series of very important issues.

• A whopping 89% of the respondents advocated the establishment of a centralized security and intelligence agency in the country in order to channelize security information interchange and subsequent action.

• 88% felt that implementing a national helpline number (something similar to 911 in the US) would make them feel more safe, secure and under protection. Another 88% demanded complete delinking of the police and security agencies from political influence.
  

• Yet another 88% feel that the elite commandos are simply wasted in providing security to politicians and VIPs and that these commandos should rather be deployed in service of the national citizens.
  

• Citizens unimamously appealed for adopting strict measures in dealing with refugee intake with around 84% casting their votes for the same.
  

• Interestingly, not many showed confidence (59%) in increasing the strength of the army in and around the border region.
  

• Instead citizens were more in favour of installation of sophisticated security gadgets and enhancing military equipment around the borderline. Close to 86% voted for these measures.

• On an individual level, close to 71% of the respondents are willing to be in possession of national identity cards at any point of time outside their residential premises in order to make citizenship identification easier for the authorities.
  

• At the same time, around 88% are willing to go through extra security checks on a daily basis in order to ensure more secure surroundings.
  

These figures should definitely encourage security officials to put on their thinking caps.
