Online Survey Analysis

1. Democracy is still the way to go : Citizens of India

A mere 22% of the respondents were in favour of the Presidential or Dictatorial forms of Government. The rest either voted for the current democratic form or an improved version of the same.

2. You current set of politicians? We are way too confused. You know why? It's because of your 'divisive' politics : Citizens

While 49% of the voters felt there a few in the current political community who can still make a difference, the rest were either not sure or simply had no confidence in the politicians, irrespective of the parties they belonged to.

As far as the reasons for this lack of confidence are concerned, a whopping 70% attributed it to divisive/votebank politics. Politicizing terror attacks and meaningless criticism of opposition parties came a distant second and third. Can the politicians expect a more clear cut answer of where they are going wrong?

3. There are certain activities that should simply be avoided after major disasters

Almost 90% of the respondents protested against the opposition politicians trying to gain political mileage out of terror attacks/disaster incidents. This should be a stark warning to the likes of L.K.Advani, Rajnath Singh and many more who seem to have mastered the art.

68% of the respondents felt VIPs hovering around ground zero immediately after disaster incidents is a case of adding salt to injury. Interestingly close to 65% were also in favour of restricting media's coverage domain during such moments.

4. This is how the politician's candidature should be evaluated...

Close to 85% of the respondents rated the weightage of a politician's criminal record as extremely high '5' (on a scale of 1 to 5) while evaluating his/her political candidature, thereby giving a clear signal that criminals should simply be debarred from contesting elections irrespective of their conviction status. 91% rated the weightage of academic credentials in the range of 3-5, thereby demanding the inclusion of more educated people in the political community. Another aspect that the respondents zeroed in was the importance synchronization of thoughts between that of the politicians and the citizens.

Democracy is a failed model in India. We adopted the British System of goverance, after independence, which was wrong. Vibrant democracies are for people, who are educated, like UK, USA @ AUSTRALIA. We should have adopted a model suitable for indian voters who are more than 70% uneducated and do not understand the real meaning of democracy. In india democracy is a tool for vote bank politics. I advocate, scrap this model and link it to education.
